TREATMENT

Target Audience - 

> Although I will portray a younger protagonist I will focus mainly on portraying the older girl as my target audience will be able to relate to them now as they will be a similar age. However, I have decided to portray younger as well as teenage/young adult instead of older as everyone within my target audience will also relate to being younger however the representation of an older generation to them might interest them less as they will not have experienced this part of life yet. Therefore, through age my video will appeal to my target audience. 

> I also aim to use a variety of editing and camera techniques in order to build up anticipation for the denouement of the narrative. As a result this will act as a vehicle to keep my audience watching the video and therefore make it appealing to them. 

> The use of the locations will also attract my target audience as, although set and filmed in Ireland, will be reminiscent of the natural beauty of England and also through the location of the beach, this will create nostalgia of past holidays or days out to the sea and will create a sense of freedom which accompanies these nostalgic feelings. 

Location - 

> I am planning to use about 3 locations: A bedroom location, by the sea and also on the field or by the lake on the mountain. These will help portray the journey which my characters will go on whilst making the video more exciting as the visuals will be constantly changing. I also want the locations to highlight certain themes within the song, especially the uncontrollable feeling created through the music and vocals. 

> If I include the artist he will be separate to all of these locations and will be in quite a blank setting to juxtapose the naturalistic ones and emphasise his detachment form the narrative whilst allowing him to stand out. 

Equipment - 

> I will either use my iPhone or a camera or both if this is possible in order to get the best variety or shots. I also need a waterproof go pro as I will shoot some of the shots in the water and I need to make sure that nothing is damaged from the water. Therefore I will also have a wider range of shots.

> I will also need to source some costumes. For my two protagonists they will need similar costumes to highlight that they are the same character at different stages in their life. The mother/brother/male character will also need a costume which highlights their connection to the protagonist and therefore help portray the emotions present in the song as well as the narrative. 

Crew - 

> I have 2 people as my protagonists and as they are both blonde this will help the audience recognise  the narrative and that it is about their journey through life. 

> I also have some family members who are keen to help me film which will make the filming process much easier as I will be able to shoot different angles of the same shot at the same time. 

> For the final character which will act as the foil as well as the link for my two protagonists I have many people offering to be in the video so I will not have any trouble in my cast. 

> My only problem is casting my artist as I do not want them to be part of the narrative so therefore I am in doubt whether to include them in the music video. This is a problem as I am shooting the video in Ireland so I need to make sure that if I choose to cast my artist as someone from Ireland that I get all the footage and images that I need form them. I also want my artist to be portrayed as slightly older than the older protagonist but still in the target audience age range which allows them to relate to them.

Effects - 

> To edit my video I will be using DaVinchi Resolve Lite which means that I will be able to grade my footage. As a result I will be able to emphasise the moods which I would like within the video through the use of colour whilst creating a more cinematic and professional feel to the video. Therefore, this will appeal to my target audience as because of the improvement in technology recently in films and television they will be used to high quality images and therefore would expect nothing less. Therefore the better the quality of the footage the more appealing my video will be for the target audience. 

> I also want to use a range of editing in conjunction with the melody of the song. This will not only create a sense on continuity but also further build up anticipation to the choruses as well as the denouement of the narrative, especially through fast-paced and jump cuts which will create a sense of exhilaration which appeals to a fun and loving 16-25 target audience.
